30 mm Automatic gun (2A42)

The 2A42 is a gas-operated automatic gun mounted on a personnel carrier and is used against the following targets:

• Light armoured vehicles up to a range of 1500 meters
• Infantrymen up to a range of 4000 meters
• Air targets at a maximum altitude of 2500 meters

Max. range 8000 m All the operational procedures of the gun are performed and controlled from inside the gun’s cupola fitted on the personnel carrier. To prepare the gun for firing, it can be charged in one of the following ways:

• by manual charging mechanism
• by squib-operated charging mechanism

The gun is fitted with a safety device which has two positions of “Lock” and “Fire”.
